The Cambodia Experience
Here I am, in Cambodia on October 29th, 2012 after a long journey from Indonesia, a transit in Singapore and arriving in Phnom Penh airport eleven hours later since my departure. And there he is, Virak, a long lost friend since 2007. He did come along to pick me up at the airport exactly 16:50. This is my first time in Cambodia that I have dreamed about so many years back.
I rode a Tuk Tuk on a dusty road for my very first and went to the city proper 7km away. I saw half-masted flags were raised because of the mourning period for the death of Norodom Sihanouk, the former king. When I came it was the holiday for coronation day of the current king, the son. The late king father had died in Beijing on October 15th, 2012 and the body was put in the royal palace, awaits for cremation in February 2013.
